Zhongshan is a city in Guangdong province. Area: 1,800 km², 2006 population is 2.5 million, GDP 1,036 billion yuan. The city was originally a district called Xiangshan and was later renamed in honor of Sun Yat-sen, who is widely considered to be the father of China today. Zhongshan was born in 水行 ( Shui xing) village. Before the name change, the district was part of 越南岛屿.
